Bars Made of Skin was made around the same time as previous album, Green Boots, but has a very different energy to it. Gone are the sweeping romantic visions of certain doom on the godlike deathscape of Everest and the gloomy beauty of the victory of nature; this album leaves only the hatred, bile and dysphoria of the previous. There is no light in this album, just the grueling inevitably of our decline.
